Teaching and Assisting in Schools

SFLIG Volunteers would like to have you join our mission to support education as a volunteer. We're looking for volunteers who can assist and teach children from age two to sixteen. Volunteers are allowed to decide the age range to work with. On the first day, the volunteer is introduced to the school or class and the teaching methods used. Volunteers help in Mathematics, Science, English, ICT, Social Science, Reading, Art, Music etc. Volunteer’s placement are at the Nursery, Primary, and Secondary schools. Volunteers are crucial for introducing fresh perspectives in the classroom and utilizing innovative teaching techniques. Volunteers must note that disciplinary and teaching styles are different from their home
country. Volunteers first assist the local teacher and eventually teach on their own if they prefer. Volunteers must be flexible to assist with helping in organizing classrooms and administrative duties.

There is a lack of infrastructure making classrooms overcrowded. You don’t need prior teaching experience or formal training to volunteer in Ghana. You can tailor your level of involvement in the classroom to your skills and interests. The most important thing is to be willing to share and be proactive. SFLIG Volunteers believe in making a difference and inspiring the next generation through volunteering and internship.
