SFLIG Volunteer Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Support program is dedicated to helping adult psychiatric patients, aged 18 and above, recover and safely reintegrate into their communities. We strive to provide a nurturing and healthy environment to support our patients on their journey to wellness. With a maximum bed capacity of 55, our rehabilitation program lasts for 9 to 18 months. However, volunteers can apply for any length of time, ranging from 2 weeks to 2 years. Our patients suffer from various psychiatric disorders, such as drug addiction, depression, Bi-Polar, and Schizophrenia.

We’re actively seeking medical and pre-medical students who have a passion for caring for others and can work alongside our resident nurse to administer medication and provide compassionate care for our patients. Our program also includes Occupational Therapy, which helps speed up the recovery and reintegration process. By developing various skills and interests during their stay, our patients can even find remunerative opportunities when they return home.

We understand that many of our patients have experienced neglect and persecution in their communities, which can make recovery even more challenging. That’s why we offer Art Therapy sessions, guidance, and counseling to help our patients overcome their past experiences and heal. We know that many of our patients struggle to provide two meals a day, and we’re here to provide them with the concern and attention they deserve. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to recover and live a fulfilling life, and we’re here to help our patients achieve that.
