teenage mothers

SFLIG Volunteers Single and Teenage Mothers Support Program provides hope and assistance to mothers in need. Many teenage mothers are not able to return to school after giving birth due to social stigma. This stigma causes them to be seen as a negative influence on other students.  Their families often discourage them from continuing their education. Instead of receiving support, they are left to fend for themselves, resulting in homelessness and poverty.  SFLIG Volunteers provide counseling and support to these single and teenage mothers. We also provide education and vocational training programs that promote independence. This helps them regain their confidence and reintegrate them into society.

Single and Teenage Mothers Support program also provides support to mothers with “Special Needs” children. Unfortunately, these children are often considered a curse and are abandoned or killed by relatives. Fathers also abandon them, leaving the mothers with the responsibility of caring for them. SFLIG volunteers assist mothers with medications, training, and seed capital for self and child care.
