Sports / Football Coaching Volunteer Program

Are you passionate about coaching football to street kids and eager to make a difference in rural Ghana? Do you want to immerse yourself in Ghana culture while using your coaching skills? Would you like to help nurture future football talent in Ghana while gaining valuable coaching experience?

They often lack access to proper facilities, equipment, and training. Economic struggles make it hard for families to support their daughters’ sports ambitions. Cultural barriers also limit their opportunities. As a result, many talented youth miss out on the chance to excel in football.

This is where SFLIG Volunteers football coaching program in Ghana comes into play! In the heart of Ghana, the dreams and potential of young footballers are waiting to be realized. Many of them are held back by their rural environments, missing out on the benefits of soccer’s joy, discipline, and community-building power.

As a volunteer in Ghana, you will assist with daily team training, exercise routines, planning
activities, and organizing outings. You will also help develop and manage fundraising drives for the project. Historically, football has been a symbol of unity and empowerment across the world.

With your support, we are on a mission to build a strong foundation for youth football and
unlock the hidden potential of the young talented in these communities. Through this program,
we provide local football teams with:

  • High-Quality Sports Equipment: Matching kits, football boots, balls, and training materials.
  • Comprehensive Training Modules: Football coaching along with essential life skills training.
  • Administrative Support: To promote and foster team development.

Skills and Qualifications

To be effective in the Ghana football coaching volunteering program, volunteers need a few key skills. Experience in football coaching is important for helping young players improve their skills. A strong interest in sports and a desire to support talented footballers are essential. Good communication skills are needed to work well with players and other people involved in the program. Volunteers should also be able to write proposals and organize fundraising events to get the support and resources needed. Additionally, volunteers must be at least 18 years old or
above. These skills will help volunteers make a real difference in the lives of young talented
footballers in Ghana.

Volunteer Responsibilities and Impact
As a volunteer in the football coaching program in Ghana, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing football training and coaching to the youth, helping them develop their skills
    and confidence on the field.
  • You will also assist in planning and organizing fundraising drives to support the program, playing a crucial role in securing the necessary resources.
  • Connecting local football clubs with potential supporters and funders is key to expanding our network and gaining financial support. You will work with the team to write compelling proposals that attract funding for the project. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the development of both short-term and long-term work plans, ensuring that we have a clear and effective strategy for achieving our goals.

Volunteer Schedule

Volunteering in the football coaching program in Ghana, your days will be fun and exciting.
Each day will bring you new and interesting tasks and challenges, and you’ll get to immerse yourself and learn from the locals about their culture and traditions.

First Day: On your first day of volunteering, you will be escorted to your placement by our local coordinator. There you’ll have the day to get to know the fellow volunteers and local football players.

Weekdays: Your Ghana coaching volunteer program starts on the second day, and while every day will be different, a normal volunteer day looks like this.

7.00am to 7.30am: Your day starts with a delicious home-cooked meal for breakfast.

7:00-7:45am: You set out for a rewarding and fulfilling day of volunteering.

8:00am: School begins. Sports coaching volunteers can choose to support with sports/teach physical education lessons during classes hours.

10:30am-11:00am – Morning Break

12.00pm-1:00pm: During the break time, you will enjoy lunch together with your fellow
volunteers, an excellent chance to get to know them better and learn about Ghana.

3.00pm: Work usually ends around this time.

4:00pm: Soccer Academy Training on the pitch starts with the team players and coaches.

6:00pm: Soccer Training is over. Volunteers are free to go home and hang out with colleague volunteers in the volunteer house for relaxation etc. Volunteers can choose to go on shopping in the village markets or choose to explore local areas.

What to bring Sports coaching volunteers can bring cones, footballs, whistles, jerseys, bibs, skipping ropes, training verses, drills, and any sport apparels/equipment. Sports/Football training gadgets are scarce locally. These equipment supports improves the standards of quality football and promotes efficiency.
